Nantou Distillery is located in the mountains of Taiwan and is fed by fresh spring water with Its sub-tropical climate resulting in fast-maturing whisky. Its Omar brand which means ?amber? in Gaelic ? is said to offer an ?alternative? to whisky producer Kavalan, which has ?dominated? the market as one of only two distilleries in the country. 100% matured in Ex-Bourbon casks. Nose: All very fresh and inviting with lemon cheesecake, clean barley sugar and grassy notes. Elegant spice and mellow oak, runny honey on cereal, a touch of orange rind and vanilla. Palate: Milky rice pudding dusted with clove and nutmeg, vanilla sponge cake, apricot glaze, banana fudge, creamy lemon curd and lime sherbet dip like fizz. Finish: Chocolate lime sweets, toffee peach with vanilla ice cream, more sherbet dip like fizz and fresh honey nut cereal. An elegant Lowland/young Speyside style offering from one of only two whisky distilleries in Taiwan.
