Mannochmore is a prime example of the 1970s Whisky boom, opening in 1971. It was built as a "sister" distillery to Glenlossie. Whilst the vast majority of its output is used for blending, there is a Flora & Fauna bottling and there have been occasional releases in Diageo's Rare Malts and Special Release programmes.
Mannochmore's chief claim to fame is that it was the distillery used to create the infamous Loch Dhu black Whisky which appeared in the 1990s. Loch Dhu was loved and loathed in equal measure and bottles are very collectable these days.
