Linkwood distillery commenced production in 1824, following the passing of the 1823 Excise Act. The distillery is located on the eastern side of Elgin.
Linkwood malt is highly regarded by blenders, resulting in the vast majority of its product being used in brands such as Johnnie Walker and the expansion of the distillery throughout its history, the most recent of which was in 2012.
Linkwood is seen as an official 12 year old as part of Diageo's Flora & Fauna range, being represented by a swan. A fantastic 37 year old version was bottled under the Special Releases programme in 2016. Gordon & MacPhail have a long history of bottling Linkwood of all ages and Hard To Find Whisky bottled a cask under its own name some years ago.
