Scotch
As far as many people are concerned, Port Ellen is one of the great lost distilleries of Scotland. Port Ellen Whisky was founded in 1825 on the south shore of Port Ellen Islay by A. K. Mackay & Co. The distillery is located just a few miles west of Ardbeg, Lagavulin and Laphroaig on the Kildalton coast. Closed in 1983 after being mothballed between 1930 and 1967. And with three Islay distilleries on the hands of the owners Port Ellen was the one to close with Caol Ila and Lagavulin surviving the 1980s closures. Since 1987 Port Ellen Whisky have provided malted barley for all the other Islay distilleries and a number of rare and collectable malts continue to be released of this oily, medicinal malt with notes of smoke, brine and pepper. Our Whisky Specialists at Hard to Find Whisky have worked hard to establish this impressive collection of Port Ellen Whisky in order to provide our customers with only the highest quality of rare and collectable whisky available in today's market.
