Rum
Appleton Estate's brand story is rooted in its history as Jamaica's oldest continuously operating rum distillery, which began legally producing rum in 1749. The brand's identity is built on its unique Jamaican terroir in the Nassau Valley, its blend of tradition and innovation, and its global representation of Jamaican culture, as embodied by the world's first female master blender, Joy Spence. Key milestones include its acquisition by J. Wray & Nephew Ltd. in 1916, the launch of the first branded Appleton rum in 1944, and Joy Spence's appointment as master blender in 1997.
