Quite possibly this whisky will be, pound for pound, one of the best of 2019! A heavilly peated and sherried Benromach bottled at cask strength (59. 9%!). Using first fill sherry casks, this is an intense and rich whisky, bottled as an 8 year old. One of only 6500 bottles. A nose of honey cured meats, zingy orange marmalade, creamy chocolate and dried fruit and spice. The palate offers sherried qualities, prunes, raisins and dried fruit along with a slight tobacco and pepper edge. There's also ginger and cinder toffee and a developing bonfire smoke. The finish is warming and smokey with lingering sherried fruit and spice. Gorgeous - definitely one for the sherry and smokey brigade.
