The second general release from this distillery, now the most northern on the mainland of Scotland in Thurso. A 3 year old matured in 40% second fill quarter casks, 40% 1st fill Ex-Bourbon and 20% 1st fill Oloroso Sherry casks. Nose: Nutty nougart, coffee, walnut and subtle coastal smoke notes. Palate: Praline, mocha, earthy fruitcake, salted apple, smoked honey on brown bread. Finish: Salted walnut, dried fruit and subtle notes of smoke and aromatic spice. More Sherry cask richness and sweetness than the original release and like that release showing great promise for the years ahead.
