| With a degree in agriculture and a five-year working experience at Michele Satta’s winery, I embarked on my own journey into the world of winemaking. I have a deep passion for wine and winegrowing. My vineyard is nearly twenty years old and is excellently situated at the foot of the hill of Castagneto Carducci. It is called Le Pievi and stretches over about 4 hectares of land with excellent soil and south-west exposure to sunlight. Shortly afterwards, I purchased another two-hectare vineyard that produces top-quality white grapes, mostly Vermentino, in Le Fornacelle area. A small-sized farm, which allows me to personally perform every step of the vineyard management and winemaking process. I strive to produce wine as my ancestors did before me, with painstaking care and patience, without any adulteration or manipulation. I was not sure about putting my name on the label. I gave it a lot of thinking and, in the end, it was not out of pride that I did it but to remain faithful to what I’ve learned so far: every wine is the unique fruit of a land, of a vintage, of a vineyard and, last but not least, of the man who made it. Three families have been accompanying me on this journey so far: my birth family, from whom I inherited the taste for wine and love of winegrowing, my wife’s family, who taught me nearly everything I know about wine, and my own family, made up of three lovely children- Alberto, Costanza and Luigi- and my wife Benedetta. My wife shares my passion for wine and, as she was born into a family of wine growers, she is used to putting up with the pace and whims of those around her. Just like any person in love, whatever I do, I do it for myself and for my loved ones. |
