Winner of Best Distillery Single Malt Scotch - 20 Years + at the San Fransisco Spirits Competition 2019 Double Gold Medal winner at the San Francisco World Spirits competition 2019 This new release for Summer 2018 is a marriage of whisky matured in four different casks – ex-Bourbon barrels, virgin oak, PX and oloroso Sherry casks. Temporis, which means ‘time’ in Latin, is said to have been inspired by the style of Speyside single malts produced during the 19th century when BenRiach first opened. Bottled at 46% abv and non-chill-filtered, Temporis 21 Year Old has notes of honeyed peat, roasted orchard fruits and tropical pineapple. Rachel Barrie, master blender for BenRiach, said: ‘This four cask matured and peated combination produces a superbly balanced malt, retaining BenRiach’s signature sweet, fruit-laden style and peated tradition. ’ Our tasting notes: Nose: A sooty smoke bbq with charred meat and aromatic marinade (soy/worcester sauce/tomato ketchup) toasted raisin bread, anchovy essence, old tea chests, tarry-woody notes and earthy blueberry. Palate: Smoky rum and raisin, sooty blueberry with some aromatic marinated bbq charred meat notes. Fragrant loose leaf tea, gunpowder and clove spice and even a curried chutney like note. Finish: More charred/gnarly meat on a sooty bbq notes, the fruit here is raisin and blueberry with lingering fragrant tea and earthy/spicy smoke. A meaty-broth like peated malt with all four casks used all in evidence here, a warming hug of a Benriach.
