Wine maker notes VINIFICATION: Destemmed and pressed grapes, going through cold maceration to produce increased intensity of primary aromas typical of the variety. The winemaking process includes low fermentation temperature to accomplish secondary aromas and finally it goes through a maturation in lees for five months in stainless steel tanks.
Producer Bodegas Larchago is a family company founded in 1968 by the successors of Bodegas Chavarri in Lapuebla de Labarca (Alava). Since 1882, four generations have tended their vineyards and made their own wines here. The winery was the first to be registered as a wine bottler in the Rioja Alavesa sub-area. GRUPO bodegas LARCHAGO combines tradition with modernity in both its wines and its facilities, maintaining a family atmosphere with the cutting-edge style introduced by the new generations. Quality factors: -Estate-owned vineyards: If there is something that sets this group apart, it is the way its wines are controlled from the start, from the way the vineyards are tended and the selective grape harvest to its painstaking winemaking practices. -Location: Short but intense winters with a sun exposure that is neither excessive nor scarce. What gives quality to the vineyards —and consequently the wines— is the location of the former, at altitudes between 400 and 600 metres above sea level. -Tradition and experience: Each wine is different and requires the winery’s experience to know how to react to changes in the weather and adverse conditions. These are the factors on which the quality of each vintage depends.
