This Wine is a homage to the monks of the courageous carthusian order, who arrived in ’Priorat’, in 1095, where they cultivated vines. In 1835 a violent crowd destroyed the work of a lifetime and sacked the monastery, events which later culminated in the auctioning of church lands known as the ”Desamortizacion de Mendizabal”. In 1996 the Torres Family began work on the planting of vineyards on the slopes strewn with the hard, black slate-like ”Licorella” stone. Made by the Torres family and coming exclusively from our vineyards located in the municipalities of Porrera and Lloar, Salmos is a Priorat wine that manages to achieve an unparalleled balance between power and elegance. Producer A Family. A Vision. A Passion. The Torres Winery was founded in 1870. The family has been growing grapes for more than 300 years in their vineyards in the Penedes region close to Barcelona. Although Torres is a modern and progressive company in many ways, committed to sustainable farming practices and early adopters of technology, the family has a strong heritage and abides by the values of past generations. Torres crafts red and white wines from the great winegrowing regions in Spain, notably Penedes, Rioja, Priorat, Ribera del Duero, Rias Baixas, Rueda, Conca de Barbera and Catalunya. Torres continues to be family owned and run, as it has been for five generations.
