Wine maker notes Back in 2006, the first Cabernet Rudius produced hailed from Howell Mountain. With the introduction of our Savory Estate Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon in 2014, we have come full circle. Our estate vineyard, perched at 1700 feet elevation on Howell Mountain, not only represents the best of what this appellation has to offer but also epitomizes the Rudius philosophy. Structure. Depth. Ageability. These have always been the hallmarks of Jeff’s winemaking style and our estate fruit provides the perfect canvas for his work. The shy yielding, Clone 7 vines from Blocks 1 and 2 give an intense concentration of flavor and an elegant structure, indicative of mountain fruit.
Producer Since its inception in 2005, Rudius has grown in production, team size, and vision. Throughout this momentum, we’ve remained a Cabernet-based brand with a passion for Rhones. We’re not your typical proprietors. We like to get our hands dirty in the vineyards and the cellar, thrive on taking risks that support what we believe in, and pride ourselves on remaining accessible to our community. Rudius is a true family affair - Jeff oversees every move from vine to bottle, while Britt (”the brains of the operation,” as Jeff likes to say) manages everything in between.
