Wine maker notes In the world of Beaujolais there are three levels of quality -- the bottom level are wines that simply carry the designation ”Beaujolais. ” The next level up are those wines labeled ”Beaujolais Villages. ” The top level is Chateau Bottled Beaujolais Villages -- denoting that the wine is not only Chateau grown and bottled but is also from a superior vineyard at a high elevation. Abarbanel/Chateau de la Salle Beaujolais Villages meets these criteria. Since 1850 the Roye family has been cultivating some of France’s best Gamay (the grapes Beaujolais wines are made from) grapes and with the utmost tender loving care transforming them into exceptional wines. Chateau de la Salle traces its origins to the 10th Century (foundations to the Chateau date from that period). Gamay grapes have been grown and wine produced at the property since at least the early 18th Century. Chateau de la Salle is a 100 percent kosher winery.
