The 12th release of Port Ellen from the annual limited Diageo releases for 2012. Distilled in 1979 and bottled at 32 years old and bottled at 52. 5% ABV And as ever these bottles are almost impossible to obtain and their prices are continuously climbing with only 2964 bottles released. Nose: Boggy, mossy peat, tarry oil like notes, seaweed, chilli flake heat, coastal-salty nuances and damp earth. Palate: Seaweed on a bbq, salty notes, chilli flake infused oil, tarry coal like peat, vegetal (roasted green peppers) charred meat. Finish: Some sweetness and spicy citrus to the tarry seaweed, brine and oily coastal notes, peppercorns and chilli like heat on a long and impressive finish. Another stunning release from this iconic lost distillery.
