| Myka Cellars was established in Santa Cruz, California in 2009. Initially established as a winery cooperative production facility, ?The Winemaker?s Studio,? Mica Raas worked to help other fledgling winemakers achieve their dreams of winemaking on a smaller, craft-based scale through the establishment of his namesake entity. During this time, Myka Cellars found success through accessing sustainably-farmed grapes from vineyards in and around the Monterey Bay. These small, family owned and operated, sustainably-farmed vineyards have proved the core source for the award-winning wines from Myka Cellars. ?To make a beautiful wine one has to understand the place and its people,? believes winemaker Mica Raas. ?It?s so important to work side by side with the crews, moving the barrels, touching the wine physically and monitoring its maturation with all five senses. To craft a truly great wine in our age, one must take advantage of contemporary technology and combine it with traditional know-how. ? With that in mind, Myka Cellars has been relocated to the promising and under-appreciated region of El Dorado County. The natural diversity of this growing AVA has flown under the radar of most viticulturists and winemakers for quite some time. With the recent move, Mica sits poised to catch the newest wave in California winemaking and fulfill his dream of making approachable and unpretentious wine that effortlessly fits into daily life. |
