Dalmore - Port Wood Reserve Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
9242
$219.99 price per bottle
A new addition to the core range of Dalmore for 2018 that started out life in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, this Highland single malt is then split between American white oak and aged Tawny port pipes from W & J Graham's vineyard in Portugal. These are then married back together to harmonise the flavours before bottling at a strength of 46. 5% abv. Tasting Notes: Nose: Stewed plums, pink nougart, crunchy cranberry, red cherry, pink grapefruit, marmalade bread and butter pudding, dusting of spice, aromatic tea leaves and polished wood. Palate: Blood orange marmalade, glace cherry, madeira cake, more crunchy red fruit (cranberry and redcurrant) rum and mocha fudge, firm oak and rich body with plenty to chew on at 46. 5%. Finish: Black cherry nougart, marzipan, black grape jelly, aromatic fruit tea, brambly fruit, blood orange and crunchy tannins with sweet nectarine and dried fruit. A welcome addition to the core range of Dalmore single malts, loving the higher abv on this one, good mouthfeel and with the five new Jura offerings (Whyte & Mackay own both Dalmore and Jura) an exciting wave of new releases well worth seeking out.
