| Hourglass was founded with a dedication to terroir-driven, Bordeaux varietal estate Napa Valley wines. With the introduction of winemaker Tony Biagi in 2012, the blending process and selection for Hourglass and Blueline Estate wines has evolved to feature a more traditional method which begins at the completion of malolactic fermentation. The core estate blends are assembled much earlier than in our previous practice, setting classical structure earlier in the elevage or barrel aging process, and contributing to greater refinement of the estate wines. Conversely, a few high-quality lots simply do not fit the final blends. As a result, we have taken this opportunity to craft these declassified lots into a second label, HG III. |
