Rutherford's Alpha Omega winery released its first wines in July 2006, but its winemakers are hardly neophytes. Winemaker Jean Hoefliger has made wines at Bordeaux's Château Lynch-Bages and Château Carbonnieux and worked, most recently, as winemaker for Newton Vineyard, before joining Alpha Omega.
