Dominus Estate, under the stewardship of Christian Moueix, is renowned for producing exceptional Bordeaux-style blends from its historic Napanook Vineyard in Napa Valley. Blend and Production The 2021 Dominus is composed of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. The growing season was characterized by a dry winter and spring, with total rainfall amounting to 14 inches, less than half the historical average. These conditions led to early hydric stress, promoting the development of small berries with concentrated flavors and phenolic compounds. Harvest took place from September 16 to October 1, 2021. Tasting Notes Appearance : Opaque purple-black hue. Nose : Intense aromas of freshly crushed blackcurrants, blackberry preserves, and stewed plums, complemented by nuances of violets, licorice, tar, and a hint of cedar. Palate : Full-bodied with a rich, dense texture. The wine reveals a complex interplay of dark fruits, floral notes, and savory elements, supported by firm yet polished tannins. The finish is long and layered, suggesting significant aging potential.
