The 2021 vintage delivered low yields with intensely flavored, small-sized berries. Drought-like conditions produced extremely concentrated fruit, loaded with color, flavor, and tannin. Summer brought cool mornings followed by long days of consistent warmth without any heat spikes. The fruit was hand-picked on September 16th in the early morning hours before sunrise and received two to three gentle pump overs per day before transferring to barrel for malolactic fermentation. The wine was then aged for 20 months in 50% new French oak before being bottled. tasting notes Classic aromas of black cherries, creme de cassis, kirsch, currant, graphite, violets, and tobacco and front a rich and concentrated palate full of red fruits, spiced minerals and freshly cut flowers. A powerful yet restrained expression of Oakville’s gravelly and loam soils highlighted by Cabernet Sauvignon’s exceptional purity and focused precision.
