Maison Brotte is a family-run estate founded in 1931, rooted in the Southern Rhône Valley and known for its innovation and expression of terroir. Currently led by Laurent Brotte, the third generation, the winery upholds a tradition of crafting elegant, terroir-driven wines. The Gigondas vineyards, nestled at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, benefit from rugged limestone soils and a Mediterranean climate, producing wines of structure and aromatic richness. This 2022 Gigondas pours a deep ruby red with purple hues. The nose is intense and fragrant, offering aromas of cherry brandy, wild red berries, black pepper, garrigue, and hints of licorice and vanilla. On the palate, it is generous and full-bodied, layered with ripe cherry, jammy red and black fruits, and savoury herbs. The tannins are velvety yet firm, providing balance to the wine’s rich texture and lingering spice-laced finish. Food Pairing This wine pairs beautifully with braised beef short ribs, wild boar terrine, or grilled lamb with rosemary. Its spice and structure also complement Indian dishes with rich sauces or Mexican mole.
