Biserno is the wine that gives the name to the estate, a thought-provoking wine reflecting the excellent terroir and micro-climate of the coastal area of the Upper Maremma. Only the finest grapes are selected for the blend, resulting in a wine of depth, intensity, complexity, longevity and elegance. Soil type is part clay, part Bolgheri conglomerate. Vine training is spurred cordon with plant density of 6,500 vines per hectare. Fermentation took place for 14 to 21 days at 77 to 82 Fahrenheit. percent of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in oak barrels, the remainder in stainless steel. The wine was aged for 15 months in 75% new French oak barriques and the rest in one year old barrels. The wine was further aged for 12 months in bottle before release.
