The nose holds notes of red-licorice, anise, cinnamon-sugar, and lots of char. The first sip is noticeably chewy for a four year old cask strength bourbon. Notes of rich berries, vanilla extract, toasted wood and butter, all start off on the hotter side, but then softer flavor notes pull through toward the end. The finish is pleasant with more red fruit notes coming back to the top.
