Wine maker notes
Born and raised in Napa, CA, winemaker Kathleen Inman is known for her ?edge. ? It?s an edge borne of intelligence and character that comes to fruition in many forms. An aficionado of contemporary indie-rock, her tastes in music describe her wines-creative, authentic, feet on the ground, and hands in the soil. She is a talented chef whose farm to table culinary expertise is legendary. Established in 2000 with the planting of our Olivet Grange Vineyard, Inman Family Wines is the result of Kathleen Inman?s love of Pinot Noir and the soil that produces it. Kathleen is the winemaker and General Manager of Inman Family Wines and Olivet Grange Vineyard, or as she often says, ?Grapegrower, winemaker, salesperson, accountant, and forklift driver. ? Winemaker Kathleen Inman with Rosie, our concrete eggNapa Valley native Kathleen Inman began Inman Family Wines in 2000 when she planted Olivet Grange Vineyard, the 10. 45 acre parcel that she farms in the heart of Sonoma County?s Russian River Valley. Kathleen has always been passionate about environmental issues. When she began making her iconic wines, it provided an opportunity for her to meld her passion for Pinot Noir and what she calls her ?eco-ethics? - sensitive farming, natural winemaking, and environmentally responsible business practices. Since Kathleen?s first small vintage in 2002, she has been an ardent supporter of non-interventionalist winemaking practices, ignoring the critically acclaimed riper-style and leading the movement towards more subtle, nuanced wines with a sense of place. Current production is 3,900 cases of elegant Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris that are naturally low in alcohol, high in acid, and food friendly. She was the first new California luxury brand to launch using all Stelvin closures. Another first came in 2010 when she opened the new Inman Family Winery which is made almost entirely from recycled materials and has the first privately owned, publicly available electric vehicle charging station in the North Bay; it is connected directly to the winery?s solar array which powers 100% of the winery and vineyard.
